After Almost 40 Years on the Job, Commercial Banking Veteran Kevin Adams Retires from United Bank

Kevin Adams’ banking career spans several decades, beginning in 1987 with his first job at what was then Lexington State Bank. After a 37-year-long career in commercial banking, he is announcing his retirement from United Bank on April 30, 2024.

A South Carolinian since 1976 and Clemson University graduate, Adams is fortunate to have spent almost four decades serving the local Lexington and Richland Counites exclusively. This decision to remain local has allowed him to grow deep roots in his community. As such, his affection for the community – and more importantly, the people he encountered and the relationships he’s built along the way – has grown deep as well.  He has worked at four community banks in the area throughout his career, most recently serving as SVP, Commercial Banker at United Bank which he joined in 2016.

Adams expresses mixed emotions about leaving behind the work that he has spent most of his life dedicated to, but as he reflects on his career, he thinks of a recent sermon that resonated with him. His pastor said, “God’s blessing is found in the work He gives us,” which Adams also firmly believes.

Although he will undoubtedly miss his life’s work, Adams is excited for the next chapter of his life and is committed to staying active in the local community. He encourages anyone with a notion to go scuba diving, play a round of golf, or go on a mission trip to please give him a call.
