In acknowledgement of McMillan Pazdan Smith’s longstanding and continued influence on the practice of architecture in South Carolina, MPS Garvin Design Group is excited to announce the hiring of Kate Hughes as the firm’s new Office Manager. Kate has a strong history with the firm, having previously served as a marketing intern in the summers of 2022 and 2023. In May 2024, she graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a major in Marketing and a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Minico comes to DREG with a broad range of buyer/seller Columbia architecture, interiors, and planning firm Garvin Design Group recently welcomed Drew Butler to the firm’s interior design team. Originally from Seattle Washington, Drew graduated cum laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in June 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a minor in Architecture. During her undergraduate studies, she had the opportunity to complete a design internship with KLO Interiors, a residential interiors firm specializing in kitchen and bath COLUMBIA SC - Turning Pages SC, a leader in adult literacy and alternative education, announces the appointment of its Executive Director, Lisa Cole, to the Board of Directors of Internset, a global education and workforce development company based in India.
Internset, founded in 2022, connects college students and entry-level professionals worldwide with virtual internships at midsize to large companies. This platform helps enhance their career readiness, build professional resumes, and access global Columbia architecture, interiors, and planning firm Garvin Design Group recently welcomed two new teammates to the studio. Mitchell Stevens and Samantha (Sam) Lowrie joined the firm as architectural designers following their undergraduate graduations from Clemson University. Mitchell joined the firm for the first time on May 20. Sam completed a summer internship with Garvin Design Group in the summer of 2023 and returned to the firm as a full-time hire on June 17, 2024. Both Mitchell and Sam plan to pursue Columbia-based architecture, interiors, and planning firm Garvin Design Group marked its 21st anniversary on June 26, 2024. Garvin Design Group has become a leader in design for higher education, historic preservation, K12 education, hospitality, athletics, and commercial projects. The firm has grown to include 24 team members, amassed over $1 billion worth of project experience, and earned over 70 awards. Members of the firm are active in myriad community service organizations. Over the past year, Garvin Garvin Design Group, HNTB, and Thompson Turner Construction joined Clemson University for a special topping-out celebration at the new Watt Family Athletic Performance & Wellness Center on Wednesday, May 29.
