Building Services Associate

Building Services Associate $12-$14 Hourly

The Building Services Associate performs various duties related to custodial, housekeeping or groundskeeping to keep the building or grounds in a clean and orderly condition, as well as set-up for special events and rentals.


Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning restrooms, galleries, classrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, lounges, and other work areas, as assigned. 
  • Assisting with museum special events, as needed. This may include setting up and taking down tables and chairs; emptying trash containers; and cleaning areas before, after, and during events.
  • Sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and polishing floors. 
  • Emptying wastebaskets. Transporting trash and waste to disposal area. 
  • Vacuuming and cleaning rugs and carpets.
  • Dusting furniture and equipment.
  • Polishing metalwork.
  • Washing windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Cleaning bathrooms and replenishing supplies. 
  • Assists with the cleaning and managing of school lunch programs.
  • Performs general guest services.
  • Performs other related duties, as necessary.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
  • High school diploma

  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, such as scrubbers and carpet cleaners. 
  • Must be able to access storage areas and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk for up to an hour at a time.
  • Weekdays, nights, and weekends required.
  • Ability to follow instructions. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience.

  • Knowledge of how to properly carry out custodial, housekeeping or grounds keeping tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfection practices, including MSDS and OSHA regulations. Prior knowledge of cleaning products and disinfection materials helpful. 
  • Knowledge of heavy cleaning machinery.
  • Ability to keep accurate written records.
