Garvin Design Group is pleased to welcome Emma Grace Connelly back to the firm as a winter architectural intern.
Emma Grace is currently a graduate student at Clemson University’s Richard A. McMahan School of Architecture. Originally from Pomaria, Emma Grace earned her Bachelor’s in Architecture in May 2025. As an undergraduate student, Emma Grace was involved with the School of Architecture Craft + Computation Labs and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Clemson chapter. Beyond her Garvin Design Group is pleased to welcome Wendy Favila back to the firm as a full-time architectural designer.
Wendy grew up in the Midlands and completed her undergraduate degree at Clemson University with a major in Architecture and a minor in Construction Science & Management. She completed Clemson’s Integrated Path to Architecture Licensure (IPAL) program and spent a semester in Charleston. Wendy plans to pursue a graduate degree in Architecture in the fall of 2026. Beyond the studio, Wendy is a Garvin Design Group is pleased to announce that Shannon Maria has joined the firm’s architectural design team.
Originally from central Massachusetts, Shannon completed her studies at Clemson University in 2023. She went on to earn dual graduate degrees from the University of Miami in Florida, completing her Master of Architecture and Master of Real Estate and Urbanism in 2025. Immediately after graduation, she worked in downtown Miami designing high-rise/mixed-use/multifamily buildings. In her free time, Garvin Design Group, HNTB, and Contract Construction are proud to announce the completion of Coastal Carolina University’s new Indoor Practice Facility in Conway, South Carolina. This state-of-the-art, 93,000-square-foot facility marks a significant enhancement to the university’s athletic and community event capabilities.
Located just south of Brooks Stadium, the Indoor Practice Facility includes a full-size synthetic football field, coaches’ observation tower, training room, video recording platforms, On July 21, Garvin Design Group and Hood Construction joined members of the University of South Carolina community for a special grand opening event and tour of the recently completed Idea Center. The Idea Center occupies three levels of the 11-story Gateway 737 building at the corner of Gadsden and Greene Streets in downtown Columbia.
Completed on an accelerated schedule, the nearly 44,000-sf Idea Center is the newest collaboration hub for the University of South Carolina. The Idea Center is intended to Garvin Design Group recently welcomed Carlos Richardson back to the studio as a full-time architectural designer. Richardson graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in December 2024.
Originally from Lexington, Carlos completed summer internships with Garvin Design Group in 2023 and 2024. His curiosity about the world inspired him to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain in the spring of 2024, which sparked new plans for future international travel. Carlos will be part of the Garvin
