About Us

RMHC Columbia, SC serves families through three main programs: (1) the Ronald McDonald House, (2) the Ronald McDonald Family Room, and (3) the Pack-a-Smile Program/Hospitality Cart.

In 2016, RMHC Columbia, SC built a new Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to accommodate free of charge up to 16 families at a time with private, fully furnished bedrooms and bathrooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen, living areas, laundry facilities, and more to help families feel as at-home as possible during an unimaginably difficult time.
Siblings staying with their families at the RMH are not forgotten. They can play pinball, air hockey, the piano, or in the outdoor play area, choose a brand-new toy to play with and take home, and keep up with schoolwork remotely.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR), located on the first floor of Prisma Health Children's Hospital in Columbia, SC, serves as a respite for families, extending the comfort of the Ronald McDonald House to the hospital. The RMFR is an oasis from busy hospital corridors and crowded waiting rooms offering refreshments, internet access, a living room area, a dining area, a children's corner filled with toys and coloring books, and caring volunteers. Before COVID-19, 26,400 individuals were served annually through the RMFR.

Although COVID-19 forced the closure of the RMFR in March 2020, RMHC Columbia, SC pivoted from offering family meals inside the RMFR to delivering them through their new Pack-a-Smile Program (PASP). Through the PASP, breakfast and lunch items are safely delivered inside the hospital to family members of the children bei
