About Us

Civitan Club of Columbia, SC has been a civic orientated club in Columbia for 93+ years.

Why We Do What We Do: We believe people are Worthy of Love and Belonging. Our Dream is to make Someone’s Life a Little Happier or a Little Better. We include people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

What We Do: Special Olympics- every May at Blythewood HS or Fort Jackson; Epworth Early Intervention Center (EEIC). Cookouts for staff, donation for supplies. EEIC provides daycare & learning experiences for preschoolers with I/DD.

What We Do (Signature Projects): Babcock Center houses clients with I/DD in residential neighborhoods. Columbia Club “adopted” three residences; total of 20 adult male residents with permanent I/DD; Provides 4 Group Events per year- Cookouts, Fireflies Ballgame; Christmas Party with Caroling, Gift for Each resident; Celebrate Each Resident’s Birthday; On occasion, we assist Babcock with other projects.

Fundraisers: Peppermints for Change, Candy Boxes; Oyster Roast; Boston Butts cooking; Nuts to You Pecan Sales; Claxton Fruitcake Sales; Flea Market Sales. New fundraising opportunities to be considered
