Women lead offices and committees, universities and companies, nonprofits and cities, in Congress and now the Vice Presidency. Women bring their talents to every corner of influence and also face unique challenges along the way. Women lead in so many places but are still missing from too many board rooms and executive offices. Invest a few hours with two leaders who have seen it all, and take time to focus on how you can communicate your way to leadership. Walk away with tangible skills to support your leadership growth, increase your opportunities for success, and hone your communication skills in every setting, from one-on-one meetings to the national stage. Whether you want new energy to lead your team, or the confidence to take your next career step, this women-only workshop will equip you for high-functioning leadership so that you and your organization can thrive. Women at all levels of professional life, particularly rising stars who are ready to take the next step in leading their teams and driving dynamic organizations, including: Across 30 years of civic and professional leadership, Elise has led, mentored and encouraged powerful women and will teach you strategies and techniques that will help you thrive as a communicator in every dynamic work setting. The first woman elected as mayor of her city, and a TEDx speaker and a faculty member at the renowned Buckley School of Public Speaking, Elise has taught executives and nonprofit professionals at all levels of responsibility, using her deep training and experience in communication of all kinds. When she was first elected, Elise was often the only woman in the room, but she has ensured that it didn’t stay that way by continuing what she has done all her career—helping to lift up and empower other women. With empathy and warmth, Elise works closely with leaders and their teams to help them build confidence and gain influence as persuasive communicators. She has been the mayor of Cayce, SC, since 2008, and serves as Mackey Strategies’ Senior Counsel in public speaking and crisis communication. Intentional, professional, and thoroughly committed to the proliferation and transformation of colleges and universities that serve underrepresented men and women of color, Dr. Artis’ leadership has been recognized locally and nationally. She was named “Female HBCU President of the Year” in 2018 by HBCU Digest. In 2019, she was featured as one of Diverse Issues in Higher Education’s “Top 35 Leading Women in Higher Education” and named the “2019 Educator of the Year” by the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Higher Ed Dive also named her “President of the Year” in 2020. Under Dr. Artis’ leadership, Benedict College was awarded the 2019 American Council on Education (ACE) “Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation.” The award recognizes institutions that have responded to higher education challenges in innovative and creative ways and achieved dramatic results in a short period of time.
