Fort Jackson’s Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

FORT JACKSON, S.C.— Fort Jackson’s friends and neighbors are invited to share, once again, in the evening’s festivities.  “You asked for it and we have answered,” said Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Patrick R. Michaelis “For the first time in years, we invite everybody to celebrate Independence Day with us.”

The Master of Ceremony kicks off two free concerts beginning at 6:00 p.m. Headlining the evening is American singer, songwriter and producer, Breland, brought to Fort Jackson by the United Service Organizations (USO). The “My Truck” singer’s hybrid of rap, R&B, gospel and soul music is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Opening for Breland is Brooks Herring, sponsored by USO SC. Herring, a Navy veteran, is a guitar-playing, music-writing singer who performs a multitude of multigenerational genres.

We are asking those who are coming for the event to use Gate 4, Boyden Arbor Road, to access Hilton Field. The field will be open at 4 p.m. so people can set up their own lawn chairs, towels and blankets. At that time, food trucks and vendors, who will have food and beverage for sale, and the kid zone, with amusement rides, will open for business.  People may bring a small cooler, filled with a few items but not enough to compete with the business sales.

Fort Jackson hopes to honor our Nation and also provide a great event for on post personnel as well as our partners and community members.

Fort Jackson is a government military post, and random vehicle searches will be conducted at the gates. All visitors must also adhere to the following guidelines: failure to comply could result in a denial of access on the base.

  • Everyone older than 16 must possess a valid state or government issued identification card for entry.  The vehicle driver must possess a valid driver’s license, valid proof of insurance and a valid registration.
  • Motorcycle riders must also conform to Department of Defense regulations to enter post and the requirements include wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet, full-fingered gloves, over the ankle boots, and long-sleeved shirt/jacket.
  • Additionally, all visitors should be aware that random vehicle searches will be conducted at the gates.

For the safety of all guests, the following items are prohibited:

  • Explosives, firearms, illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, grills, tailgate tents, clothing or signage with offensive or vulgar language or political message, inappropriate clothing, confetti, fireworks, smoke bombs, laser pens/pointers, noise-making, devices (horns, whistles, etc.), pepper spray, umbrellas, video cameras, cameras with lenses longer than 6” when fully extended, remote controlled flying devices. NO knives can be brought no matter the length or batons and only service animals for those with a disability are allowed and not an emotional support animal (service animals are allowed, but they must be on leash and owners must clean up after the animals)

The event provides an opportunity for soldiers, civilians and families, military partners, and the community to come together and celebrate our nation’s independence.
