Stacy Stokes Joins the Leadership Line-up at Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, CPAs
Former USC Gamecock baseball player now CPA will focus on tax consultancy, BPS growth.
 
COLUMBIA, S.C. (December 6, 2018) – Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, P.A., (BPS) is pleased to announce that former University of South Carolina baseball great and seasoned certified public accountant (CPA) Stacy Stokes has joined the firm as partner. This brings BPS’s partner group up to 11. The firm is among the premier public accounting and consulting firms in the Southeast and the largest in Columbia based on the number of certified public accountants on staff.
 
Stokes has more than 22 years of experience in public accounting, focusing his career on advising closely held businesses and high net worth individuals, including pass-through entities and family-owned businesses, on tax issues and other financial matters. As a BPS partner, he will advise clients on a wide range of matters, serving as a trusted advisor and outsourced CFO. As a firm leader, Stokes will coach staff to help BPS achieve firm goals while supporting the successful professional careers of BPS accountants. Prior to joining BPS, he was an equity owner in a large regional accounting firm.

Stokes, who first established a high profile in South Carolina when he played second base under Coach June Raines from 1991-1994, plans to maintain a high level of community involvement at BPS. He is a member of the executive committee and treasurer for the Central Carolina Community Foundation and treasurer of the Congaree Land Trust. He participated in the Riley Institute of Diversity Leadership and is past president of Habitat for Humanity (Central SC Chapter) and Kiwanis Young Professionals of Columbia. He also served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Stokes hasn’t lost his love of baseball; he now volunteers as a youth baseball coach.
 
A Camden, S.C. native, Stokes earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and a Master of Taxation from the University of South Carolina and was named to the Southeastern Conference’s Academic Honor Roll in 1993-1994. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
