About Us

The Salvation Army of the Midlands serves as a non-profit, religious, Social Services and Community Development organization. Services and Programs focus on five distinct service populations: Children & Youth, Families in Crisis, Homeless Persons, Senior Citizens, and People recovering from addictions. Services focus on housing stability, homeless prevention, movement toward permanent housing, food security, disaster response, Senior Citizen Socialization, Youth Development, and support of the Inclement Weather Center.

The Salvation Army is funded through private donations, Christmas Red Kettles, State and Federal Grants, Salvation Army Family Stores, and the United Way of the Midlands. The Salvation Army operates as a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible as regulated by the IRS.

The Salvation Army offers multiple opportunities for volunteer service including serving meals through the kitchen at Transitions Shelter, tutoring children in the Doing The Most Good Reading Academy, Ringing Bells through the Christmas Red Kettles, and conducting canned food drives.

The Salvation Army encourages donations of used and useable items of clothing and household goods to our Family Stores. Our Stores provide materials for our Caseworkers to distribute, generate cash for Salvation Army programs, and provide a quality shopping experience for families throughout the Midlands. The Salvation Army Family Stores also recycles clothing and other materials such as shoes, belts, purses, and other clothing materials.
