Tracy and Michael Schlicksup\, in Columbia\, SC on Friday\, September 29th. The Schlicksups are building a brand new\, 8\,000 square foot emergency veterinary facility between I-77 and I-20 on Trenholm Road. The clinic\, Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty (CVETS)\, will operate in an area where those services aren't currently available in Columbia and have a measurable economic impact.\n\n \n\n"We chose to relocate from Charleston and open the clinic in Columbia because we knew there was an unmet need for advanced specialty and emergency care there\," stated Dr. Michael Schlicksup\, co-founder of Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty.\n\n \n\n"My wife Tracy is from Columbia so it has a special meaning to us\; we couldn't be more excited to not only bring jobs to the area\, but also help the animals and their owners. Right now\, pet owners have to drive over 40 minutes across town to access the emergency and specialty services we'll be providing\," continued Dr. Schlicksup.\n\n \n\nThe clinic is currently scheduled to open March 21st\, 2018 and immediately bring 21 full time jobs to Columbia\, in addition to the short-term job creation from the ground-up construction. The Schlicksups anticipate a total of at least 30 full time jobs by the end of their first year of operation.\n\n \n\n"When we met the Schlicksups and they shared their dream of opening up a clinic in Columbia we were instantly invested.
