Bill Browder claims that his tax lawyer Sergei Magnitsky and he exposed corruption. Magnitsky was imprisoned and died in Russian custody. Browder says that Magnitsky was murdered. In 2012\, Browder became the driving force behind the Magnitsky Act\, a US law that placed sanction on Russians\, who were thought to be responsible for the death of Sergei Magnitsky\, by freezing their US assets and prohibiting their entrance into the United States.
